Lawyers make sure that persons receive a fair trial, and that civil law is not violated whether a person(s) is guilty or not. When they rescue a known criminal, people may feel injustice and disrupt the public square. Summary, a known criminal goes free, and the lawyer helped. Where is the justice?
Our laws are supposed to provide justice, but if a lawyer can go around the law without keeping its spirit, justice will not prevail, and more senseless acts will be passed because some select interest group wants it to be so.
Lawyers are necessary for interpreting the law and getting people through the legal system. Even though they know that their client is guilty, they should be held accountable to the spirit of the law, not just the letter.
If some laws need to be modified or gotten rid of, do it. Lawyers should be an advocate for just laws.
