We have to come out of our pockets for car repairs because the roads have potholes and other damages. Although the city has found a way to make money— Red Light Camera Speeding Tickets, the money collected is not budgeted for roads repairs.
Red light camera tickets can cost anywhere from $50 to $1,000 depending on your state, the location of the red light, and your driving record. In some states, a red light camera ticket can also mean points on your driver’s license and an increase in car insurance rates.
In Baltimore City, it cost $75 (It’s unclear whether the cameras are new, or just redeployed from other areas.) The system is the city’s third traffic camera program after the first two were revealed to have issued erroneous tickets.
To make drivers slow down, speeding tickets alone won’t work.
Solution – give out speeding tickets that will lead to the suspension of a person’s driver’s license.
