Wake UP! (Always VOTE)

Don’t burn the Constitution

Not voting can cause us to lose democracy. Inconvenience is not an answer to not voting. Not liking the candidates or the process is not a reason for not voting. Not seeing change is not an answer to not voting.

We must not lose our DEMOCRACY. Although things seem hopeless and the candidates are uninspiring, vote for the person who will not destroy democracy. For example, Flint, Michigan lost its democracy. Their elected officials such as the Mayor no longer have power with the election of the Governor, Rick Synder. He put a state manager in charge of all the elected officials. In other words, he took away the power of the people.

Without informing the Mayor of a policy change, the State Manager switched Flint’s water supply. The people were poisoned and suffer from contaminated water today. Their children have rashes, burns, and memory loss. Flint may use bottled water to bathe and drink when it is made available. Some people visit family members outside of Flint to take weekly showers or baths. A lot of people left Flint due to the water crisis.

In summary, Rick Synder got elected. He quieted the voices of the people (Flint residents) by eliminating the powers of the elected officials such as the Mayor and putting in-charge a manager of the city. Rick Synder has not been held accountable for the poisoning of Flint. He is still in the office along with the head of the health department.

We must become aware of our government because we are self-governing. We enjoy democratic freedoms and rights such as the rule law, economic growth,  education,  inter-racial relationships, gender orientation, sexual orientation, gun rights, entitlements, social security, and housing.

There are things that need correcting such as climate change, pollution, education, discrimination, police brutality, homelessness, food insecurity, an increase in the minimum wage and condemned housing. We are seeking a fair solution and allow people to address the problems.

Micheal Moore talks about losing democracy in his documentary “Fahrenheit 11/9.”
