Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Cucuzzella served 20 years as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland, providing legal advice and representation to State Agencies. Judge Cucuzzella’s positions included Principal Counsel to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in 2022, Principal Counsel to the Maryland Department of Planning from 2013 to 2022, and Senior Litigator to the Department of Natural Resources from 2002 to 2013. As a litigator, Judge Cucuzzella regularly appeared in various matters in Maryland and federal trial and appellate courts.
Judge Cucuzzella is retired as a Colonel from the United States Army, having proudly served for over 26 years on both Active Duty and the Reserves in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. While in the JAG Corps, Judge Cucuzzella’s positions included, among others, prosecutor under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, appellate attorney, Staff Judge Advocate to the 82d Airborne Division, Military Judge, deployed Security Justice Advisor to the United States Security Coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and unit Commander.
Paul Cucuzzella is a judge of the Maryland 8th Circuit Court Baltimore City. Cucuzzella assumed office on April 20, 2022. Cucuzzella’s current term ends in 2024.
Cucuzzella is running for re-election for judge of the Maryland 8th Circuit Court Baltimore City. Cucuzzella is on the ballot in the primary on May 14, 2024.[source]
Cucuzzella was appointed by Gov. Larry Hogan (R) on April 20, 2022, to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Robert B. Kershaw.[1]
